We Restore Damaged and Aesthetically Challenged Smiles with Natural-looking Dental Crowns

No matter how diligent you are in caring for your teeth, injury and regular wear and tear can jeopardize your teeth. If your tooth structure has been compromised, simple activities like chewing and eating cold or hot drinks become a source of discomfort. What’s more, decayed or aesthetically unappealing teeth may impact your smile and self-esteem.

Thanks to dental crowns from Cascadia Family Dental, you don’t have to settle for such problems. Dental crowns are tooth-shaped appliances installed over your entire tooth to add resilience and aesthetics.

The many uses of dental crowns

A dental crown has many functional and cosmetic uses in dentistry. Dr. Jared Adams may recommend a dental crown to:

  • Strengthen a weakened tooth
  • Complete the dental implant procedure
  • Secure a dental bridge
  • Cosmetically improve a severely stained, rotated, or misshapen tooth
  • Treat a cavity too extensive for a typical filling
  • Protect your tooth after root canal treatment

While dental crowns can be made from gold and other materials, we prefer porcelain because it closely matches your natural teeth. Porcelain crowns restore your tooth while still maintaining its natural aesthetics. Besides, porcelain crowns are stain-resistant and can last as many as 15 years with proper maintenance.

The dental crown procedure

Installing your dental crown is a pretty routine procedure at Cascadia Family Dental. You only need at least two appointments to get a beautiful smile. During the first appointment, we examine your tooth to ensure the bone beneath is strong and disease-free.

Next, we shave and reshape your tooth to create space for a crown. Of course, this procedure is done after numbing your gums to reduce discomfort. Then, we take your bite impression and send the models to lab technicians to custom-make your crown. Since creating your crown may take days, we will install a temporary crown to protect your prepared tooth.

During the second appointment, we remove the temporary crown, thoroughly wash your tooth, and use dental cement to bond your crown permanently to the tooth. Your dentist may make a few changes to the crown to ensure it looks natural and fits comfortably. After installation, you can enjoy your newfound smile for many years.
