Dental crowns are the ideal restorations when your tooth is significantly damaged by decay, trauma, or excessive wear. Natural-looking dental crowns from Cascadia Family Dental in Bend, Oregon, are designed to restore your tooth’s function and appearance. Our porcelain crowns look nearly identical to your natural teeth, resulting in a seamless appearance.
The first step is to schedule an appointment with Dr. Amberena Fairlee. Our caring Dentist will assess your tooth to determine if a dental crown is in fact the best treatment for you. If so, we’ll start preparing your tooth by removing the decayed portion and reshaping your tooth to accommodate the crown. Ther procedure is carried out after administering anesthesia in order to keep you comfortable.
After tooth preparation, we’ll take a digital scan or “impression” of your teeth and work with our partner lab to create a perfect-fitting restoration. The lab technicians will fabricate your crown to match your tooth’s size, shape, and color. Since fabricating your crown is intricate, it typically requires a 1-2 week period where you’ll wear a provisional temporary crown to protect your tooth or teeth. Note: Dr. Fairlee has worked with her lab and lab technicians since 2013 and calls them one of (if not THE) best dental labs in the entire US. *No, nothing from Cascadia is ever fabricated outside of the US.
Once your crown is ready, we’ll inform you to return to our office for the crown delivery or crown seat appointment. Dr. Fairlee will remove the temporary restoration, clean the tooth, and fit your permanent crown. If necessary, we’ll make a few adjustments to your crown to ensure you enjoy the look and function of a natural smile. We take a great deal of pride in the way we perform crown and bridge procedures in our practice. We focus on high quality for your benefit, start to finish.
We can use dental crowns for cosmetic and functional reasons. We can place a dental crown on a discolored or misshapen tooth to improve its appearance or to reinforce a tooth’s structure after extensive damage or decay. Furthermore, dental crowns play a significant role in teeth replacement. We can use a dental crown to secure a dental bridge or restore function to a dental implant.
Indeed, dental crowns may be small, but they do a lot of “heavy lifting” in dentistry. Following are the other benefits of porcelain dental crowns:
Broken or damaged teeth are at risk of further damage if not treated. Neglecting your compromised tooth could require a root canal or, worse, extraction if your tooth is beyond restoration. Dental crowns restore your tooth’s structural integrity, saving you extensive dental work like root canals or dental implants. Made of esthetically appealing ceramic, all-porcelain crowns restore your tooth’s function, health, and cosmetic appeal.
Our dental crowns are designed to last for many years. However, they still need maintenance to increase their lifespan. Fortunately, taking care of your dental crowns is simple. Observe the simple habits below, and your dental crowns could last well over 20 years!
